Sweet Treat

It's always funny how my scrappy time goes in spurts.  There are times I scrap daily and can't stop thinking about it.  And then other times I'll go for days with scrapping.  I finally made some time to scrap Saturday night.  I was inspired by 3 challenges for this layout:

1st was this sketch over at My Scrap & More Sketches

And then on the My Scraps message board they are having a Spring into Summer crop.  I chose to do the Yellow Polkadot Bikini challenge to use yellow polka dots and twine.  Then I added in this color challenge at The Memory Nest.  When I saw I saw this I immediately thought of this line from MME.

Here is what I came up with.  These photos are some of my 13 yr old when he was little.  They were perfect for this pp. Well, perfect other than the crazy busy print on his outfit.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Boys

Yesterday I got a chance to go to Joanns.  I had earned a $10 gift certificate the week before so had to go back and spend it.  I had seen this amazing line by Basic Grey called Hey Boy and Hey You and knew I needed the papers.  Since they were 40% off I also got several packs of the embellishments/die cuts.  Love, love them.  So I came home very inspired and ready to scrap.

I found this fun sketch at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits.
And then I wanted to add a few other challenges..you know me..the more the better.  So I used and envelope or more of a pocket to hold the tags, which was a challenge at Lots of Layers class by Audrey Yeager.  Plus a color challenge at My Scraps and More.

Then thought with all my new goodies I would also include a challenge at Memorable Seasons to use at least 4 premade die cuts.  How's that for making the best use of my limited scrappy time?  Here is what I came up with:

Sketches in Thyme Take #109

It's my last sketch at Sketches in Thyme.  I decided to take small break but have loved being on the team there.  Thanks Tiffany for this opportunity!

Here is my take on it.

Scrap Our Stash

I have so much in my stash that I've been working to really use more of it up.  At the rate I buy I really need to pick up how much I scrap and how much I use on a layout.  So with that in mind I've started an idea that has been working so far.  I have a tendency to use just the kit I have created and a few of the latest embellishments I buy but forget the rest that I own so I listed items, locations I've stored them, brand names, etc. and put them in a little jar. Then every time I sit down to scrap I draw out 3 and have to use at least 2 of them on my layout.  It's worked out great so far and I'm using up some stash.

Plus, I found this site: Scrap Our Stash and they have a few challenges I decided to participate in to help me use more of my stash.  The first challenge is to:

Create a LAYOUT with at least ONE polka dot paper and ONE striped paper.
Oh, and that's not it!
You will have to dig further into your stash because...
you must include at least one bird, butterfly and/or bee on your layout!

So here is my take on this challenge.  I also scraplifted Tami White, a scrappy friend who is the Member of the Month over at Memorable Seasons.  I've also been a part of a challenge at My Scraps & More to pick a kit and work to use it up.  I chose October Afternoon Sidewalks and 5&Dime, so you'll be seeing a few layouts with these lines.  Isn't this photo of me so cute?

The 2nd April Challenge at Scrap Our Stash is :
1. Create a NEW layout using this sketch.
You can flip it, turn it, or change the size and number of the photos!
.
2. Dig into your stash of BUTTONS and you must include (6) or more of those buttons on your layout!

So here's my layout for this.  I also included a challenge at Colorful Creations to have this equation:
Masking + flowers + bling/stickles.  I masked the banner and didn't love it so I added a few pp's and left the 2 on the end.  Again using the October Afternoon Sidewalks.

I also decided to use this for Whimsical Wednesday at The Memory Nest.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with Sketches in Thyme's latest.

Buddies

I had so much fun scrapping this weekend!  I accomplished 4 layouts and 2 cards - probably a record for me.  For some reason I was very inspired.  Speaking of, when I saw this sketch at Sketchabilities and knew I had to play along.
Plus I thought it was perfect for a White Space challenge at Memorable Seasons.  Here is my take on it:

Plus here is one of the cards I created for a challenge at My Scraps & More to use a doily and pearls:

I'll be back tomorrow to share the other layouts I created. Thanks for stopping by!

Family

I was so inspired by the last layout I did based on a color challenge that I decided to tackle another one.  This one is at My Scraps and More.
Plus I combined it with this amazing sketch at Sketchabilities
And to add one more (can you tell I love a good challenge), I used ribbon 3 different way, which was a challenge at Memorable Seasons.  I had a great time with these challenges.  Here is my layout:

Finally Time To Scrap

I am so happy life finally worked out to allow me some scrappy time.  With that time I was inspired by several challenges.  First, I loved the color challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  Added to the color combo I had to use a butterfly and 2 of the same photo (a first for me).  When I first saw these colors I didn't think I'd be able to find anything to work with it but then ran across this darling photo of me a little over a year old.
Here is what I created, using some October Afternoon stash.  I accepted a challenge at My Scraps & More to find a kit and use it up.  I should be doing this every month.  I also was inspired by Audrey Yeager as I'm taking a fun class from her so this layout is very inspired by her and it's a sketch from her.  I also chose to be a part of this week's challenge at Inspiration Elevator.  I'm not sure who I was supposed to partner with but I chose to be inspired by Audrey, which is an easy thing as I love her style.  I chose to use her layering style, the distressed edges, the sewing and splattering.  Oh...and she uses the negative space a lot so I created the word "sweet" inspired by her.  Thanks for stopping by!

Quadruple the Fun

I am so happy because life finally worked out so I could get some fun scrappy time in.  I really do start missing it!  So I was inspired by a set of challenges that 4 fun ladies issue every month.  Each of these ladies issues a challenge and if you do all 4 your name goes into a drawing for a bonus.  I've been wanting to try it before but never seemed to find the time.  This time I decided to accept these challenge.
Kerys challenge is a Recipe: hand stitching, a punch, mixed alphas
Brenda's is this fun sketch

Rochelle - Colors

Kristi's challenge: - Something that flies

So with that said, I combined all four challenges, using the navy, tan and aqua and here is my layout.  I have also been working on slashing my stash of October Afternoon 5&Dime and Sidewalks, a challenge at My Scraps & More.  I always seem to hoard OA so you'll be seeing more layouts using it. Thanks for stopping by!

Sketches in Thyme Take #108

Another week, another sketch from Sketches in Thyme.  This week I decided to rotate it to the left so that my photos matched the orientation.

Here is my take on this, using some fun photos from our trip to Hawaii.  I've been taking a fun class at My Scraps and More called Lots of Layers by Audrey Yeager(love her work!).  She sent us this stencil and since it was sitting out on my desk I decided to play a little with it.  I ended up spritzing it on a scrap paper and then turned it over on my layout.  Hence, why it's not all there.  But it was a fun technique I haven't tried until now.

Another way I've been challenging myself is to use up some of my old stash.  I own sooo much stuff that if I don't start using it, I need to get rid of it.  So I wrote down about 20 different things and am challenging myself to draw 2 of them out for each layout I create.  Tonight I drew out deco brads and ribbon.  It's been fun to challenge myself to use up my stash...and it feels good to use some of it up.

 Anyway...thanks for stopping by.

Have a fabulous day!
