3 Scrappy Boys February Add On Kit & My Scraps Sketch #69

So today is my turn up on the blog over at 3 Scrappy Boys.  February Kits finally came in after multiple manufacturer problems.  Whew!  I got the chance to play with the February Add-On Kit.  Look how fun it is?!

February 2014 Add-on kit
And since I'm a fan of seeing all the embellishments I took a close up of just them:

Feb add on embellishmentsA few of my favs: the cute wood veneer hearts by Cosmo Cricut, the Basic Grey chalkboard labels, the gorgeous pearl flower trinkets by Maya Road,  Teresa Collins butterflies and all of the patterned paper (though I'm a huge pp junkie)! But honestly, this whole kit is so much fun!!  I'm anxious to play a little bit more with it before I move onto my March kit.

Here is the layout I created using the fun Jillibean Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup line:
Right away I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the little hearts and arrows with the holes in them.  I grabbed some embroidery floss and threaded them through the hearts and strung them together.  Then did the same with the arrow, only I threaded them so they look like a black stripe is down the middle.  I glued the ends of the floss to the back with mini glue dots.

For this layout, I used a fabulous sketch from My Scraps & More Sketch Blog.  I loved this sketch with all the fun layering!

Paper Secrets Sketch Layout

Over at Paper Secrets, they have a fun sketch by Kelly Holifield.

Isn't it so fun?!  Plus, there is an added requirement: you must include items on your layout that spell out LOVE.  So here is what I came up with, using this fun sketch.  My photo went a different direction so I just adjusted it slightly.
I love this photo of my son!  It's from when he was 3 (he's now 14).  This picture just makes me smile and it's the way I'll always remember him.  I chose these for my other requirements:
L= Lawn Fawn Sequins
O - Orange red paper
V= Veneer (totally in my title and the arrow)
E= Edge Distresser

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day!!

you must include items, colors, brands, etc. beginning with each of the letter of the word - LOVE.  You must use a different item for each letter ( for example you CAN NOT use white cardstock to represent "w" and "c" as "w"hite & "c"ardstock).  - See more at: http://paper-secrets.blogspot.com/#sthash.Tc0l55OL.dpuf

Will you Be My Valentine?

So today, it's my turn over at 3 Scrappy Boys.  I wasn't quite sure what to share with you but after  browsing a lot on Pinterest looking for Valentine's Day inspiration, I was so in the mood to create something Valentine-sy.  I got this fabulous September Main kit in the Past Kit Clearance section(there are some awesome kits in this section clearanced at a great price) and happened to notice a few fun prints that happened to be on top that had a valentine's look.
September 2013 Main kit
Just look at this fabulous arrow print with the hearts.  Isn't it so cute!

 So I knew what I wanted to play with line.  I kept mostly to the gray/pink/yellow combo.  The yellow dot and pink/coral prints are b sides not shown in the kit photo.  I then found this darling photo of my college age daughter at her favorite dessert place where she went with her friend on Valentine's day.  The cork arrows and the cute little yellow heart sticker from the sticker sheet were the perfect touch.
I used this fun sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches blog:

One little tip I thought I'd share is: if you don't want just a white doily,  mist it.  I thought this heart doily was perfect but it was white and that's what I wanted as my background.  So, I grabbed my Mr Huey's First Kiss, that I got here and at a discount no less, spritzed it and before it set in too much I wiped/dabbed it off on a paper towel.  This is the color I was left with.  I love it!  So next time you're wanting a doily or a flower in that perfect shade, pull out your mists and give them a try to change them up.
Don't forget the amazing sale going on over at the store.  There are some FABULOUS items clearanced there at 50% off!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great rest of your week!

The Memory Nest Sketch challenge

So over at The Memory Nest we've got a fun new sketch challenge up for each of you.  This one is by Kellie Guzman, one of our new sketch designers and it uses fun negative strips/photo booth photos.  Here is the sketch:

I am hoping to get a chance to work with this, though I can't think of any photo booth style photos I have.  I have a few others ideas of how to use it and now just need life to cooperate so I can play.  Be sure and share your take on this fun sketch here so we can all see your take on it.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!
