Memorable Seasons LSS Week 3

Well fortunately I made it through another week at Memorable Seasons.  The Last Scrapper Standing is in full swing and I had fun with this challenge.  This week's challenge is "on the Edge".  Create unique treatments on the edges.  When I first read it I had this idea pop in my head and had to give it at try.  So I gathered my  many paper edge punches and went to town.  I then layered them on top of each other adding in a few layers of lace as well.  Then topped it with a stip of ribbon.  I also stitched on the edges of my photo mat and black and white paper.

Here are a few closeups as well:

I also created a layout for 2 challenges.  At Memorable Seasons there is a challenge this month to capture your relationship with your mom.  I then added that challenge to a scraplift challenge at My Scraps and More.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Scraps & More Sketch-A-Thon

I'm a huge fan of sketches!  They just inspire me and make creating easier and fun!  So when I found that My Scraps and More is hosting a Sketch-A-Thon in March I just had to share.  They are posting a sketch a day.  Come over and play along.  I plan to do as much as I can and hope to scrap a bunch.  If not, I'll have 20-30 new sketches to play with afterwards.  Should be tons of fun!

Sketches in Thyme Take #103

It's time for another sketch at Sketches in Thyme!  This week's sketch is a double layout.  Here it is:

And here is my take on it.  I decided to flip it upside down and condense it into a single layout.  I'm really happy with how it turned out. I was excited to finally use my chevron template that I've owned way too long without using it.  The only thing I still need to add is the date as I can't remember what year this was.

Be sure and stop by and play along with the sketch challenges!  We'd love to have you join us! Thanks for stopping by!  I love having you visit!

Memorable Seasons LSS Week 2

Well I was thrilled to see that I made it through to another week of Last Scrapper Standing at Memorable Seasons.  I love this contest as it makes me really think outside my box and create something new.  This week's challenge is to use embossing.  I chose to dry emboss as I have quite a few products for the dry embossing that I rarely use.  Here is my layout:

I took foil, glued it down to cardstock and ran it through my embossing folder, then punched out this banner and the strip at the top left of the layout.  I was really happy with the result!  It reminds me of a tin ceiling tile.  Then I used a Quikutz embossing folder that I've owned forever and never used to create my journaling block.  I also embossed the purple paper you see throughout the layout with swiss dots.  Plus I die cut/embossed the butterflies and even created a few stripes on the top left using my envelope maker by Martha Stewart.  I had tons of fun with this challenge.  Here are a few closeups:

Fingers crossed I'll move on for next week, though who knows...the competition is really tough.  I'd love for you to stop by and vote 2/22 and even play along in next week's challenge for a chance at the weekly drawing.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sketches in Thyme Take #102

I can't believe Sketches in Thyme has created 102 sketches!  That's amazing!  Anyway...here is this week's sketch:

And here is my take on this.  I had fun scrapping this cute photo of my dd last year.  I can't believe I have an almost 20 year old.  It can't be possible!

Be sure and stop by Sketches in Thyme and play along with us.  Next week will be a double layout!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Memorable Seasons LSS and more

I finally found some time to scrap!  Yay!!  Memorable Seasons is starting their Last Scrapper Standing contest and I knew I had to give it a try.  I always seem to do some of my best work with this contest.  So the first challenge is to use hearts as the main focus of your layout.  At first I was a little bit concerned as I rarely use hearts - they just aren't my thing.  But after pondering on it for a few days, this idea came to me and I knew I had to give it a try.  I combined 3 ideas of using hearts

First I created my background by using the autofill button on my cricut and filling the whole page, then used the negative space and sewed it onto the white cardstock.  I then die cut a few patterned paper hearts, scored them down the middle and sewed with black to add some contrast.  My third way of using hearts was to take 5 of my die cut hearts in red, scored them down the middle and made a flower out of them.  I had a lot of fun creating this layout!  Thanks to Jean at MS for challenging me to use some hearts!  Plus I was able to use this layout at My Scraps and More as well as Colorful Creations for a challenge there.

Also at Memorable Seasons, Wendy created a fun sketch for the first challenge this month:

And here is my take on it.  I also combined it with a For The Boys Challenge at Colorful Creations to used 3 photos, numbers, an office supply(I used staples), 3 pp's, a ticket and journaling.  Don't you just love the fun wood veneer chevron arrows I bought from Studio Calico?!  Love them!  Also at My Scraps and More there was a challenge to use an arrow.

And here's another I did.  This was for a challenge at My Scraps to scraplift a layout of the person who posted before me on the post.  Plus I used challenge at MS to use a template.

Thanks to my mom and sisters for a fun crop Saturday.  We had tons of fun and it was great to get my  mojo working again.  I missed creating!  Thursday I'll be back to share my take at Sketches in Thyme.  Until then...have a fabulous week!
