Girls Night

I've been wanting to use this fun sketch from Paper Secrets since I saw it and wasn't sure I was going to be able to squeeze it in before the deadline but life cooperated with me and I was able to get it done.  As part of the challenge you had to use bling as well. I put bling all around my charcoal doily and between my little banner.  That's a new punch I bought yesterday...isn't it cute?!

So I chose to combine with it another challenge I've been wanting to participate in as I find a good color challenge really pushes me to think outside my comfort zone of picking a newer line and going for it.  I chose to use this color challenge from Color Me Scrappy.

The twist was to use misting or paint. I painted the edge of the layout and the doily the dark grey color. I even pulled out some very old foam stamps I'd never used and stamped the flower on the aqua doily and then cut it in half. Then I had to sprinkle some mist.
Here is my take on it:

Celebrate Today

I thought I'd share a layout I created for a Design Team tryout for The Memory Nest.  I love her challenges - she does my 2 favorite ones - color and sketch.  Plus Leslie, the owner, is such a positive person, which goes a loooong way for me.  Love her kindness! So here is the sketch I needed to use:

So while I was at it..you know how much I love to combine 2 challenges...I thought I'd add a color challenge from My Scraps and More

Scrappy Friend's & Scrap Our Stash Challenges

I had so much fun last month playing with these challenges with the Scrappy Friends and thought I'd play again this month.  I was even a very lucky lady as I won this fabulous prize for playing along last month.  Lucky random draw, huh?!  Love it!!!

So here are the challenges for this month :
Rochelle's Challenge:
For this challenge, you are to create a layout using
any of these phrases above somewhere on your layout.
Kristi B's Challenge:

Create a layout using a company logo.
hotel room keys, bar coasters, Box Tops, product packaging, stickers, etc.

Kerys Challenge:
My Recipe Challenge: You must include lots of layers, use at least one
stamp and include stars.

Brenda's Challenge:

And here is my take on it.  It was a fun challenge, though it took me forever to make sure everything was all on there.  I really like the challenge of incorporating everything though.  My Logo is the star tag and chipboard star.  They are off my son's converse shoes.  The arrow are the stamps

Oh...and to add to it, because 4 challenges wasn't enough I also used it for the Scrap Our Stash challenge which was to :

The Challenge:
Create a LAYOUT using 3 or more patterned papers!  You MUST
use papers from
3 or more different collections. AND....
you will need to
dig further into your stash and pull out some of those RUBONS

Most of what I used was My Mind's Eye but the yellow paper is from Pink Paislee and the red paper is from Lily Bee.  And the rubons I used are the little stars I added to my journaling block. They were the perfect touch to pull the stars in.

That's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by!

Dry Ice Entertainment

My boys love dry ice.  Every year my MIL sends dh a package from Omaha Steaks for his birthday.  My boys love it, not for the meat but for the dry ice.  They love to put it into the sink and play with it until it's gone.  Talk about cheap entertainment.  I chose to capture this memory with this sketch from My Scraps Sketches and combined it with a challenge to use punches from Memorable Seasons as well as My scraps to use at least 3 stickers.

Here's the sketch:
And here's my layout:

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great rest of your week!!

Slashing my Stash

I've really been enjoying several of the challenges at  My Scraps and More.  One of my favorites is called Slash Your Stash where each month we choose a kit/line that we want to try and use up.  This month I chose to use up my MME Fun Days line.  I loved this line when it came out but have found it a little more challenging to use than I thought it would be.  Here is what I've created:

This first one is to use the word cherish.  I also combined this with a challenge at Memorable Seasons to use chipboard.  Here is the sketch I used:

This second layout I created using this sketch from Colorful Creations:

So far that's all I've had time for.  I'd like to squeeze one more in before the month is over.  I've almost slashed this stash.  Thanks for stopping by.

Coconut Syrup sweet

My Scraps and More has a word challenge.  This week it was to use the word sweet.  I was also drawn to this color combo from Color Me Scrappy, though I ran out of time to get it posted.  Here is the color combo and sketch we had to use

Here is what I created:

Party

So life has finally mellowed a bit and allowed me to scrap.  At My Scraps and More we have a fun monthly challenge where we sent each other a kit and then we scrap using that kit.  We're supposed to use a little bit of everything they send.  Lisa sent me this fun kit:

Lisa is also the Member of the Month at Memorable Seasons, which means to honor them we scraplift a layout of theirs.  Here is her layout I lifted:

So here is my layout.  I used a bit of everything she sent.  I took the chipboard frame and cut it in half to create a photo corner and then covered it in twine.  I added bits of pink to pull in the pink from the cupcake chipboard.  I wish I hadn't been so lazy as I like Lisa's handstiched frame better than my sewn one.  Thanks for stopping by!
