Love This Boy

It's always interesting to me how my scrapping in the summertime varies so dramatically.  It's been a little while since I scrapped without it being a DT assignment but I finally made some time to create.  I started with a color challenge from Color Me Scrappy and then found a fun sketch from My Scraps and More to use with it.  Here is the color and sketch:

And the twist is to use woodgrain

Plus I added a fun recipe from Colorful Creations and this is what I came up with.

Here's the recipe:

Patterned Paper for background spots, strips or chevrons
Photo or photos
Fussy cutting - I hand cut the pennants and chevrons.
Title
Metal embellishment
Journalling
Frame your photo - created with woodgrain washi tape

Here is the fun sketch this week:

As always I had a great time with this sketch! These photos are of my son playing drums at a school concert.  And yes they are posed but that's because you can't get any good photos of percussion as there are too many people in front of them so he went along with what I wanted and I was able to capture these photos.  I used It's a Good Life by Fancy Pants.  Bling circles are from Want 2 Scrap.

And here is the rafflecopter.  I look forward to seeing what you create!

The Memory Nest Summer challenge #3

It's the week for the Chickadees (that's me) challenge at The Memory Nest.  This week it's a sketch with a twist.  Here is the fun sketch by Susan Stringfellow, one of my favs!

And the Twist is to use Buttons or Brads.  I chose to use both. Here is my layout using My Mind's Eye Kate & Co Line. Loved these colors!

This is my husband announcing at one of the local high school basketball games.  I created this layout to document his love of announcing.  The little die cut circle strip is a recycled item from my Zip Fizz container from Costco.  I went to throw it away and thought of this sketch.

Be sure and stop by The Memory Nest and see all the fun layouts the rest of the Chickadees created.  We'd love to have you join in the fun. Just post your take using Mr Linky.  Thanks for stopping by!

And be sure and check out what the Hummingbirds created with this challenge.

In case you forgot, here is Summer Challenge 1.

If you do both and post it by July 31 your name will go into a drawing for these:

So Very Happy

I got some scrappy time in after I went out and had some Mother Daughter time with my sweet daughter.  I chose to use a sketch by Page Maps shared at Paper Secrets.

I kept pretty true to the sketch as it was perfect for my photos.  Here is what I created using Simple Stories Summer line from last year.

Happy Scrappy Time

My boys are both away at a scout function starting this afternoon so I'm hoping to spend some quality time in my scrap room.  Tonight I created this fun layout and card.

This was for several challenges:

- a scraplift of Missy at My Scraps,

 - a challenge at Back Porch Memories to use a black and white photo of a relationship,

- the Throwdown challenge at Memorable Seasons to use a recycled item (my journaling block is from Prima packaging), use shapes and layering

- Colorful Creations - use 4 pp's, 4 die cuts (the yellow stem, camera, 8 cent tag, and the square tag, and 4 of the same embellishment - I used aqua brads

Then I had enough time to create a card.  I chose to use a sketch from Paper Secrets:

And Colorful Creations to use only black and white.  Here is my card.

Sketchabilities Sketch #95

It's reveal day again.  Time for another fun sketch from Sketchabilities.   I truly love Karan's sketches! Here is sketch #95:

And here is my take:

I had fun creating this one!  Sketchabilities is sponsored by Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits for this sketch.  There kits are unique as they are designed with products to create boys layouts.  I love this concept as finding boy products isn't easy.  They are offering a RAK of Elle's Studio products for one lucky winner so be sure and play along for your chance to win.  Thanks for stopping by!

1st Broken Arm

Tonight I felt like scrapping so I looked through some challenges and knew I wanted to squeeze in this challenge for Paper Secrets to use this sketch.

THE TWIST: use textured paper (corrugated, canvas, burlap, linen, etc.)
as your background paper.

Plus there was a recipe at Back Porch Memories to use Stripes, Stars and stitching.  And then of course I had to add just one more challenge.  I added the challenge to create a red/white/blue layout.  Here is what I created:

I spy with my little eye

I've really been enjoying the scrap time I've had lately.  After being gone for a month it feels good to create again.  Here is a layout I created for Color Me Scrappy.  Here is the color :

And here is the sketch we had to use with it.

Here is my take on it:

I also combined this with a challenge at My Scraps and More to use 3 different washi tapes.  I actually used 4.  The 3 pennant banners are washi as well as the blue piece on the pink paper.  There's a few more days for the color challenge and My scraps is until the end of the month.  Be sure and stop by and play along.

The Memory Nest Summer Challenge #1

It's my first reveal over at The Memory Nest.  Today our first summer challenge is up.  It combines a sketch and color challenge - two of my favorite kinds!

I decided to flip the sketch.  Here is what I came up with.  I used some older products as well as some new and mixed 3 different lines to create this color combo.  I was inspired by the wood grain in the color photo and decided to make that my background.

There are some darling variations on this challenge at the site so be sure and come by and check it out.  You have until July 15 to share your take on this challenge.  Thanks for stopping by!

My Happy News

I've been gone here and there for almost the whole month of June.  Luckily the craziness has finally calmed and I'm ready to get back into my scrappy routine.  While I was away a fun announcement went out at The Memory Nest.   I was blessed to make it on the summer Design Team as a Chickadee.  I am thrilled to get this opportunity and looking forward to getting to know new people.  I just had to share.   My first challenge goes live in about a week.   I'd love to have you stop by and check us out.

Sketchabilities Sketch #94

It's time for another sketch from Sketchabilities!   Here is sketch #94.  Isn't it so fun!

I chose to change the shape up a bit.  Here is what I created using a mix of simple stories and Crate Paper.

Also, this sketch is sponsored by The Memory Nest,
which is extra exciting for me as that is where I just made it on the Design Team! They are offering a $20 Gift Certificate so be sure and link up your take on this sketch by July 13.  I can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for stopping by!
