My Scraps and More sketch 47

I got a little bit of time to scrap this weekend and I've had this challenge layout started on my desk for a few days and finally finished it.  I combined a few challenges for this layout.  The sketch is #47 at My Scraps and More.  Here it is:

And I combined it with this fun recipe from Colorful Creations:
Here is the recipe:

1 x photo blurred
3 x different masks
triangular shapes in any size
Washi tape
Your choice of wet medium, whether it be inks, paint, mist or textured paste.
Use words or quotes on your page relevant to the photo
White cardstock only for background

Other products you can use are, stickers, patterned papers and bling.  NO FLOWERS for this challenge

I was a bit stressed about the 3 different masks but it was the perfect excuse to play with my texture paste that I've owned for too long without using.  It was fun.  Plus I masked the butterflies and the scalloped edge at the bottom.  I was happy for the excuse to use this blurry photo of my dd and her friend/roommate.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great start to your week!

SWAT Drill #15

Over at S.W.A.T - Scrap Warrior Advanced Training I decided to give one of their drills a try.  I ended up loving the results.  Drill 15 is about the 3 big S's:
1- Stamp It!

2- Stitch It!
(Machine, Hand or Faux)

3- Spray or Splatter it!

I love to stitch and splatter but stamping is NOT something I do much.  So this was a fun challenge for me.  Here is my take using the fun photo of my dd at college dressed up for an 80's dance.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

This week's projects

It's been a little while since I've posted.  I thought I'd share a few of my favorites I've created this last week.
This month at The Memory Nest, we've partnered with Sketch-n-Scrap for a few of their sketches.  Leslie, the owner at The Memory Nest is their sponsor this month.
Here is the card I created along with the sketch for it:

And here is the sketch and my take on it.  I used Down By the Shore available at The Memory Nest.  Use this code (Sally20) to get it on sale 20% off through then end of September.

This one is a fun I created this week using a fun kit from a kit swap we did at My Scraps and More.  Wendi sent this to me and I had a great time with all the pink, since I rarely use that color.  Most of this kit is from The Pier collection, which the Memory Nest has on sale 20% off this month if you use this code: Sally20.  I also used a fun bingo challenge at Memorable Seasons. Oh..and the sketch is from Colorful Creations

I'm also linking this to The Memory Nest's Crafty Creations link up.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week!

Back Porch Memories GDT Work

I've been meaning to post this for several days... where does the time go?  For those of you who may not know I was blessed to be a guest designer at Back Porch Memories this month.  BPM is a monthly kit club that offers 2 different kits a month - one called Solo where you get all one line and the other called Medley where she sends you bits and pieces of 3 different lines.  Medley is my favorite to get as it's a fun variety.  This month, I was sent a Solo kit and have to admit I had a great time playing with this line.  I love the colors in this line, especially the navy.  Here is the kit I received:

And here are the 3 layouts I created and 2 cards.  It really is a fun line and I fell in love the artisan chipboard arrows.  In one layout I covered one with pp and the other I spritzed and wiped off the ink with my paper towel and the grid design showed up.  Very fun!!

When I saw the cute side of the pp that had these fun conversation bubbles, I knew I wanted to fussy cut a few and thought I'd journal about my dd and her friend and how there's never a loss of words for them.  I pop dotted several of the bubbles and added buttons from the kit to others.

I know I've posted this one before but thought I'd share it all together with the rest.  I love the blue floral pp in the kit!  Here I covered one arrow with the blue houndstooth paper and spritzed the pink one.  Love the grid that shows through.  So cut!

This one I knew I wanted a softer feel.  This is a created using a sketch from BPM newsletter.  I took a few liberties with it and added more of the fun pink spritzed arrows.  I knew I wanted to use the letters but they spread out too much so I just layered them.  You can see the closeup of them below.

Here's a fun card with the premade journaling card.  I punched a simple butterfly, hand cut pieces of the chevron arrow and added the stamped Thinking of You

And here's one I created using scraps I had leftover.  I wanted to use that darling hello word bubble and thought it was perfect for a card.

Well that's it.  I had a great time with this kit! It's full of fun prints and colors and I enjoyed playing with it.  Be sure and stop by and check out Back Porch Memories.

Back Porch Memories GDT challenge

For those of you who can scrap fast, here is a challenge you might enjoy.  I know I've loved my GDT position with Back Porch Memories.  You should go for it.  There's only layout posted so far, so I say give it a try!  Here is a link to the GDT challenge.  Here is the sketch:
Image

We'd like to see your layout include a title, photo(s) and journaling. Layouts will be judged by our design team on creativity and best overall design. The winning layout will earn a spot on our team for the month of October and this Guest Designer will get to work with one of our monthly kits.
Here are the rules:
Rules of our Guest Designer Contest: 1. One (1) layout entry per person.

2. Entry must use the sketch above and include a title, photo(s) and journaling.

3. Your layout must be NEWLY CREATED for this contest and not posted elsewhere during the contest period. After the contest is over, you can post your creation wherever you'd like.

4. Deadline for entries is September 10, midnight Eastern time (New York City time), so we can announce our winner approximately around September 15.

5. Please post your layout in our gallery in the "October '13 Guest Designer Contest" folder (under "contests & challenges") in order to be eligible. Posting a link or photo of your page to this thread is fine, but your page must also be in our gallery in the proper folder!!!

6. Due to increased international shipping times and our tight due dates, we are no longer able to accept international submissions for our Guest Designer contest, including Canadian entries. Canadian entries have been accepted in the past, but we've noticed kits aren't making it to the designer in time to complete the requirements by our due date. We will continue to monitor the international and Canadian shipping times and reverse this rule if it improves.***

7. You must not have been a Guest Design Team Member at Back Porch Memories in the last six months. If it's been over that time period, feel free to enter again.

Good Luck!!

Enjoying Ocean Views

I enjoy the combination of challenges that Scrappy Friends issues.  This month the challenges are:

Rochelle Spears: Use this sketch

Brenda Ragsdale: Pick 3
Create a layout and pick three items from the list below and include on your page:
Enamel Dots
Washi tape
Wood Veneer
Clothes Pin
Talk Bubble
Chevrons/Chevron Patterned Paper
Arrows/ Arrow Pattern Paper
Tickets
Kristi B:  My August Challenge with my Scrappy Friends is to Scrap Your Summer.
Create a layout using photos from one of your favorite summer memories.

Here is my take on this challenge.  I also combined it with another challenge at My Scraps and More to use a newer line and then an Older line from the same manufacturer that is at least a year old.  I used the orange chevron and blue dot from 2 separate lines - one that is over 2 years old and one that's about 18 months old mixed with the newer Simple Stories I love Summer line.  I used washi tape,  wood veneers and arrows.  It was fun to combine all of these challenges in one.  You should give it a try.

Cardabilities Sketch 82 and more

While I was away at a scrappy retreat this last week I was busy creating cards as well as layouts.  We decided to challenge ourselves to create cards to send to Operation Write Home, a wonderful organization that sends hand-made blank cards to the soldiers to be able to send a note home to their families.  Here are a few of the ones I created.  You'll see a few tomorrow when I post about my GDT layouts and projects.

The first card I created was using this fun sketch from Cardabilities as well as my Lucky Charms Kit from The Memory Nest

Here is what I created.  Isn't that chipboard piece so cute?!

Then I used some scraps from a challenge they had to create this fun little birthday card.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back tomorrow with a few more layouts to share.

Back Porch Memories GDT & Challenge

I am thrilled to be a guest designer at Back Porch Memories this month! I got this darling kit to work with. It's the Solo Kit from MME

Isn't it cute?  Such fun colors!

I have to wait to show you 2 of the layouts until after the 10th but I can show you this one I created for a challenge.  First, here is the challenge I issued:

With it being Back to School time I thought I'd issue you a challenge with the theme in mind. When I think of school I think of
ABC
123

So with that in mind, my challenge to you is to create a layout with this in mind. Use each of the alphabet and numbers and create your own recipe. You can use what I came up with or create your own, it's up to you. Here is what I chose:

A - Arrows (I covered one with pp and sanded off the edges and the other I misted and wiped off. Isn't that cool how the grid comes through?)
B - Buttons
C - Chipboard (one of my middle buttons is from chipboard as well as my arrows)

1 - doily
2 - enamel dots
3 - bows from twine

Here is my layout:

Be sure an stop by and play along.  You have until September 30th to post your layout at Back Porch Memories.  And you don't have to use the kit, use anything you want.

I also, wanted to use this layout for Crafty Creations at The Memory Nest

Thanks for stopping by!

Interesting New Partnership - OA and Webster's Pages

Just thought I'd share this new exciting news from Webster's Pages and October Afternoon:

Looks like a fun new partnership!
