Enjoy the Sunshine

It's my turn again over at 3 Scrappy Boys.  In case you don't remember, I am working with the July Add-On kit which consists of papers from #Summer by American Crafts and a cute one by Heidi Swapp. Here is what I created this week:

Isn't this the cutest photo of my niece?  I had fun playing with the hot pink, lime green and the hint of black!  The only thing I added not in the kit: the hot pink paper (it was so necessary for this), the white cardstock, the hot pink washi and the sequins.  Otherwise it's all from the kit.

The main title was created with one of the script fonts from the Simple Stories DIY stickers and one of the transparency ephemera in the kit.  For the "enjoy", I found the green by itself got a little lost on my pink paper so I remembered a trick I used years ago (think pre-thickers days) where I learned if you are needing a vowel/letter that you've used all of them up, cut around the letter, with a little bit of white showing and use the negative of the letter/word.  So that's what I chose to do.  The transparency, again was a little lost so I stapled it to some white cardstock and fussy cut around the edge of the transparency.

I was inspired by this sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy.  I turned it upside down due to the way my niece is facing in the photo.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you find some time to enjoy the sunshine!

Birthday Boy

I'm really trying to be better at my blog posts.  For some reason, I always seem to forget to come post them here.  Today I'm up over at the 3SB blog sharing another layout I created using my July Add-On Kit. It features the American Crafts #Summer line which is full of fun bright papers.  Since the colors are such cheerful & happy I thought they'd be fun for this photo of my son on his birthday last year.  He chose to go to Red Robin for lunch and there was a whole girl's athletic team there who insisted on singing to him.  Carsen doesn't like to be sung to and he was quite embarrassed, hence the #embarrassed on my layout.
I loved this pre-designed background with the journaling block right on it.  I layered up several of the papers, stitched a few on, added the thickers from the kit and a few of the stickers from the DIY Simple Stories.  Since the top was a bit heavy I anchored it with the strip of dots from the bottom of one of the papers.  The only thing not in the kit on this layout was the little white alpha stickers.  Otherwise it's all in the kit!

When I sat down to create this I was inspired by one of Laura Whitaker's sketches, as always.  Love her style!  Isn't it great?!  I might have to use it again rotated.  Love it!

That's it for today.  I keep hoping life will allow me to scrap more than just DT stuff but for now, I'm grateful I can find time for my DT stuff so maybe soon I'll have more time.  Hope you're having a great summer!

3 Scrappy Boys July Add-On & Back Porch Memories GDT sketch

I love this month's Add-On kit from 3Scrappy Boys!  The colors are so fun and colorful!  I love the embellishments and the papers!  It's fantastic!  Here is a photo of the kit and later this week will share a video showing you everything that comes in it.
July 2014 Add-on Kit

And here is a layout I created using this adorable photo of my 2 nieces that I love!
I created this by using the fun Doodlebug Washi Tape and creating a border around my cardstock, cut my papers by American Crafts #Summer line and added a few bits and pieces of the Fancy Pants Ephemera and stickers from DIY Simple Stories.  I used this amazing sketch by Page Maps created for BackPorch Memories.  Isn't it great?!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure and check back throughout the month to see more creations using this kit.   Have a happy, scrappy week!

Fun @ The Fair

Today it's my turn to share over at 3ScrappyBoys and since I've been so bad at blogging I thought I'd share it here as well.  I've had a fun kit to work with this month featuring Bo Bunny Modern Miss.  It's been great to work with and I've found it to be very versatile so don't let the name fool you that it's for girls only.  I've created several neutral ones.  Here's the layout I created this week:
I was totally inspired by this fabulous sketch by Laura Whitaker this time from Stuck?! Sketches.  I have found she is one of my favorite sketch artists.  I seem to see her work at several sites and I am very drawn to her style.  Look how great this is:

I thought I'd share another layout I created for the 3SB newsletter this month as well.  Since we honored the men in our lives this month I thought it only appropriate to create one of my dh and kids together:

I love that big "LOVE" which I fussy cut from one of the pre-designed 4x6 cards. And you want to know the crazy thing and I didn't even realize it until now.  These are from the same sketch.  The bottom one I just rotated it.  I guess you could say I loved this sketch and was very inspired by it!  That's what you get for not scrapping much either.  I totally forgot I'd used this sketch already.  Crazy!  Thanks Laura for some fab inspiration!  It was so great I had to use it twice.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous week!!

Summer Love

So this month at 3 Scrappy Boys, Heather sent me miscellaneous store product to play with.  If you go check out today's post you'll see all the fun goodies she sent.  One thing to note:  the store is 40% for now and the kits are 10% off so be sure and check it out!  Great buys!!

So as I sat down to play with my fun kit, I came across this fun sketch from Paper Secrets:

Plus you have to use something on your layout for each of these letters: SHOWER.

So mixing a few of the lines I was sent, I created this:
I just love this photo of my parents! Isn't it so sweet!  Here's what I used:
S: Stitching
H: Hearts
O: Oval(to the right of the photo)
W:Washi Tape
E: Enamel Dots
R: Rubon

#AprilTrioKit #3ScrappyBoys

Hashtags are all the rage and honestly I never use them as I'm never on twitter.  But today I decided to accept Christy's challenge from the crop to use a hashtag in my title.  Here is what I created using this month's Trio Kit at 3 Scrappy Boys.  I love this kit!  I've had a lot of fun with it.  I love how all three lines work so well together! First, here's the kit:
April 2014 Trio kit

Here's what I create with it.
# Good Eats
For this layout I used the Crate Paper Race Track paper as my background, cut out a circle from star vellum to go over the center of it and zig zag stitched it.  I also used the multi colored dot paper from the Crate Paper line.  I also cut the gray word strip and yellow dot paper from October Afternoon.  Isn't it awesome how well they mix?  Plus the grey/red dot is from the BG part of the trio.  Love how versatile these are!   I did use several of the OA die cuts and some of the epoxy shapes from the kit and added a few chalkboard stickers from a kit a few months ago, some washi tape and a few enamel dots (something I can't seem to get enough of).

I was inspired by a sketch by Audrey Yeager for My Scraps and More for this.  I just rotated it. There was also a twist to use chalkboard elements on it

Here is another layout I created using this April Trio kit.  I used another sketch from the Sketch-a-thon at My Scraps & More.

I hope you'll check out this fabulous April Trio kit from 3Scrappy Boys.  It really is worth the money and is so versatile!  Be sure and stop by the boards and participate in our crop challenges.  There are many prizes up for grabs and I'd love to see you win one!  Happy Scrapping!
